Hey Everyone, welcome again to Stash Blasting Wednesday.
A couple of weeks in the past I started this sequence at the log cabin block and it's permutations. The first block used to be easy methods to make a basic log cabin block and today is the right way to make a courthouse steps block. I made any other Three blocks and put them in combination. This is among the layouts I got here up with.
The distinction between those two blocks is that the fundamental log cabin is built going across the centre of the block whereas this block is built from most sensible and backside and side via facet of the centre with the two different colors. Once again I am the use of a complementary color scheme. This time one in all my favourites, blue and orange.
The block is 12 inches finished.
I determined to make use of 3 fabrics from each and every color with black within the centre. From every colour I chose a light, medium and darkish valued fabric.
Cutting InstructionsPiece A – lower 2 – 2″ x 12 ½″ rectangles from the dark orange cloth
Piece B – minimize 4 – 2″ x 9 ½″ rectangles – 2 from the medium orange and a couple of from the dark blue materials
Piece C – minimize 4 – 2″ x 6 ½″ rectangles – 2 from the sunshine orange and 2 from the medium blue materials
Piece D – cut 2 – 2″ x 3 ½″ rectangles from the light blue fabric
Piece E – reduce 1 – Three ½″ sq. from the black cloth
Block LayoutLayout the pieces in the block as in step with the image above. Each piece is labelled with its corresponding letter.
Building the BlockAll seams are a ¼″ and all seams are pressed towards the piece just sewn onto the block. Make certain to press with a dry iron in order not to warp the pieces.
1. Sew piece D (light blue) to the highest and bottom of piece E (black).
2. Sew piece C (light orange) to every side of the unit from step 1.
3. Sew piece C (medium blue) to the top and bottom of the unit from step 2.
4. Sew piece B (medium orange) to each facet of the unit from step 3.
5. Sew piece B (dark blue) to the highest and bottom of the unit from step 4.
6. Sew piece A (dark orange) to every side of the unit from step 5 to complete the block. The block will measure 12 ½″.
I made 4 of the blocks and put them into a couple of other configurations.
Which one do you prefer highest? The blue phase of each and every structure job my memory of spools of thread.

I truly like the colors. It is simply too unhealthy that this is all I've of lots of the materials since I took them from the scrap bin. I believe I may be able to find any other oranges and blues in my stash to make some more – the similar but different.
See you subsequent week – sure that's right I have decided to carry Stash Blasting Wednesdays back weekly as I in point of fact want to use up the scraps and stash.
Happy Quilting!
